I have watched Japanese dramas and movies half my life now but I will never get comfortable with all the tropes of high school girl falling for grown are man and grown are man (let me repeat, adult!) falling for them back. That’s a dreamy teen fantasy that some teens may have but seeing it realized and normalized is still so weird to me and always has been, whether I was 10 or 20, it has always made me uncomfortable.
That’s culture shock right there but that still doesn’t make it morally alright. Also I am so not gonna tag the dramas or movies I am referencing because I don’t need fans of that trope to come for me. Like whatever you want, I know it’s not real life but even you have to realize that it’s really fucking uncomfortable for most people.
